The safety and security of your information is our top priority. CreditBank PNG online banking is a secure system. When you log into your account, a padlock will appear in the URL bar. Also, in the web address the http will include an "s" (https://), which indicates a secure connection. Look for both when you log in to make sure your connection is secure.
Remember:
First, you will create a unique Password that only you should know. That Password is your first layer of account protection.
At CreditBank PNG we go one step further and employ Two-Factor Authentication. This means that in addition to your user generated password, when you want to log into your account from an unidentified device, we will send you a text or email, depending on what you have signed up for, with a code. You must first enter that code to get into your account.
Additionally, when you sign up for Online Banking, you will also have to answer three security questions. Answers to these questions will be used for you to gain access to your account if you have forgotten your password or account number, or if your phone has been stolen or lost. If your phone has facial recognition or touch ID, these safety measures will apply to your bank access as well. Same with your computer. You will have to enter your password to get online, and then you can either click log-in if you have saved your credentials or re-enter your username and password. Never share this information with anyone!
Tips for creating strong Passwords:
Security questions are used as an additional form of authentication when you log into Online or Mobile Banking with your account number and password in certain situations. You will set up your security questions at enrolment and they can be updated any time while you are logged in. These questions are about personal information such as your first pet, your mother’s maiden name or other such questions.
You may receive a security question challenge periodically when you log in, perform certain tasks within Online banking such as changing your mailing address or when using an unrecognised device or browser.
Financial information which is accessed using your device is not stored within the app at any time. You can choose to store your Customer ID within the app, however this is encrypted when not in use and access to your account will still require a valid PIN.
If your device is lost or stolen, or you’re worried that your device may have been compromised by a virus or a malicious software application, then please call us on +675 308 5500.
Phishing scams are attempts by someone to deceive you into disclosing personal or financial information that they can use to steal your money, identity, or both. Attempts come through emails, phone calls and texts, and target all ages, all income levels, and businesses as well as individuals.
By posing as someone you know, or as a legitimate company such as your bank, the fraudster asks you to provide or verify personal information such as account numbers and/or password/login information.
Phishing scams usually have 3 things in common:
Remember: CreditBank PNG will never ask you for account numbers or passwords by phone, email, or text. If you do receive any suspicious email this can be reported to [email protected]
Fraudsters may develop and publish fake mobile banking applications designed to look like an official CreditBank PNG Mobile Banking app to collect personal information, including username/password, with the goal to commit identity theft or account takeover.
The CreditBank PNG Mobile App is only available from the Google Play (Android) and Apple App Store (iOS). Any mobile apps advertised on third-party sites should not be downloaded. The developer or author of the application is CreditBank PNG.
During the log-in process you will see a link to Forgot Password and one to Forget Username. Click on either of those options and we will send you the information to the email address or text number we have on record. You may have to answer security questions first.
Remember: You can help protect yourself by keeping these additional tips in mind:
Never share your PIN with anyone. Do not write your PIN down in a place where others can find it, and do not identify the number as your PIN number if you need to write it down.
Additionally, be aware when withdrawing cash from an ATM. See who is around you and be sure they cannot see you entering your personal information.
Check your account frequently. The beauty of Online banking is it gives you easy access to all your account information. If you see something that does not look right, call us immediately:
